Tell your members about the 'SBA Emerging Leaders Initiative'

One of the major reasons why Chambers of Commerce lose members is that many members see little to no perceived value (ROI) when it comes to their membership investment. So it is always nice when you can pass along information that your membership most likely wouldn't have seen otherwise. May I suggest you give your members a 'Heads Up!' about the Emerging Leaders Initiative.

The Emerging Leaders Initiative is an intensive executive-level series intended to accelerate the growth of high-potential small businesses in America’s underserved cities. It has been developed by the Small Business Administration (SBA) and draws on the experiences of advisors and business leaders in urban communities across the country. What's really nice is that this government program is FREE. The only cost is an executive's time and commitment to complete the curriculum over the course of seven months. All other costs are covered by SBA and their local partners.

Government statistics confirm that underserved small businesses are the engines of sustained economic growth and job creation. Small businesses in underserved cities added close to three times as many jobs to their local economies as large companies over the last decade. SBA launched the Initiative to capitalize on this proven capacity for stimulating jobs and growth in America’s cities.

Take a look at the SBA Emerging Leaders Initiative website and I think you'll see the value of the program. My guess is you have members who will appreciate knowing about this program and, even if they don't participate, they will see that you are adding value to their membership by keeping them informed.

Remember ... Happy Members = Improved Retention = Happy Chambers.
