In a recent telephone conversation with a Chamber board president, I asked if his board and staff
had a "RAP Sheet".
Of course, he hadn't a clue what I was referring to. When I explained
that R.A.P. stood for "Retention Action Plan" he remained quiet. His response was also negative
when I asked if they had a written plan laying out the who-what-when-where-why-and-how details for
retaining Chamber members. He acknowledged that the board and staff had no accountability process
in place for membership retention.
We have now begun a productive discussion on the
Remember ... it's relatively easy to find a new member but it's significantly more
challenging to keep that member renewing year after year.
